History of the Surrey Lady Captains’ Society

The Surrey Lady Captains Society was founded by Joan Rothschild, a club golfer at Kingswood Golf club with the approval of the Surrey County President, Molly Gourlay, who in 1930 was the instigator of the Curtis Cup.  Our Society was born in early 1964 with the membership being open to all Lady Captains of Surrey Clubs limited to 250 members at an annual cost of £1 per annum.  Joan was the first Captain, Molly the first President, Joan Laker was the Hon.
