Invitation to Join the SLCS
Dear Lady Captain
Congratulations on your appointment as Lady Captain, I wish you a very enjoyable and successful year, or if your year is about to finish, I hope you have enjoyed the experience. We are delighted to say we are now able to invite both current and past captains to apply for membership.
As Captain of the Surrey Lady Captains’ Society I write to tell you a little about our Society. I’m pleased to say membership is open to you from the moment you are appointed.
The Society was inaugurated in 1964 for ladies who had been a Captain of their club in Surrey, we currently have over 600 members; Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and Berkshire have similar Societies and we have annual matches with these counties.
As usual our year starts with our AGM and luncheon normally in late February or early March. We hold five golf meetings during the year at different Clubs throughout the County; a Singles Cup, three Better Ball competitions and a Mixed Invitation. We also play four Inter-County Matches against the other Societies mentioned above. All SLCS Members are welcome to play in any of the events and matches.
You will probably find that some of the Past Captains at your Club are already members of the Society and I’m sure it will be useful to chat with them. However, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like to know more about the Society.
